Starlink, the world’s first and largest satellite constellation that provides high speed and low-tenancy broadband internet, has officially begun operating in Jamaica.
Earlier this month, on October 7, it was announced by Daryl Vaz, minister of science, energy and technology, that he had granted approval for the Elon Musk-owned company to begin operations in Jamaica.
The company updated its website today (October 24), listing Jamaica as a country where its services are available.
Vaz also confirmed the news, retweeting a post that announced that the company was now serving Jamaica.
He responded to the tweet, stating: “Fuelling growth.”
He also tagged the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology account on Twitter.
Starlink has been in operation since 2019 and is already available in more than 30 countries.
