Sterling Asset Management Limited hosted a luncheon on Friday (August 9) at Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records in St Andrew, to support Jamaican athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympics and provided an afternoon of sports, camaraderie, and great food.

The event, attended by Sterling clients and friends, was an exemplifier of Sterling’s client-centricity and Jamaica’s athletic tradition of coming together during the Olympics to cheer on our athletes.

Held in the loft area of the restaurant, Sterling’s black, gold and green decor created a patriotic and elegant atmosphere. The open bar served great food and drink options adding to the lively and positive ambience. As patrons enjoyed the offerings, the excitement mounted with each event featuring Jamaican participants, displayed on the numerous screens at Tracks and Records.

Adding to the ‘Jamaican Pride’ of the luncheon was their menu that featured modern Jamaican options from ackee patty bites, oxtail spring rolls, jerk chicken spring rolls and curry goat pasta. Sterling ensured that if the track and field events fell short of satiating their clients, the food would not.

Speaking with Our Today, president and CEO of Sterling Asset Management, Charles Ross, said over 21 years, the company has always tried to give back to its clients.

“We’ve actually done this twice, planning events around this time of year, and one of our team members reminded us that the Olympics were on and that we should do something around the Olympics.”

“We chose the relays because we thought we might have more representation but unfortunately with all of the injuries and dropouts, we didn’t do as well as we would have hoped.”

When asked to give the sum of Sterling’s reputation as an asset management company, Ross said:

“We offer very good value for people who are looking to medium to long term investments in the fixed income area…A lot of our clients tend to be older people, retirees and those saving and investing for retirement— getting them the best returns, that is where we specialise.”

Ross believes that treating his clients well and hosting events such as this, is a part of the Sterling brand of great customer service and appreciation.

“We pride ourselves on service, a very high level of personalised service and that’s what our clients appreciate about us and that’s what we try to deliver to them every time,” he added

The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and joy as attendees shared stories of the Paris Olympics, reflecting on the highs and lows of the games.

Michelle Valentine, assistant vice president at Sterling Asset Management, emphasised the significance of fostering an environment where both clients and staff can unwind, enjoy themselves, and periodically experience a change of scenery.

“We wanted our clients to come out and relax on this Friday afternoon, enjoy the games…  it’s still exciting,” she said, “ It’s also about meeting with our clients in a different setting. Yes, we do presentations and we have our formal events, but we wanted a much more relaxed atmosphere where they can just chit-chat and watch the games.”

The Tracks & Records luncheon not only commemorated the achievements of Jamaica’s Olympic athletes but also served as a reminder of Sterlings’ pride in good customer relations.
