Just ahead of the Yuletide season, Ringtail International Inc – a joint venture between Select Brands and Stansfeld Scott International – has introduced an innovative addition to the Stone’s Original Ginger Wine brand that will appeal to the Jamaican sentiment.
The company has officially launched the ‘Stone’s Sorrel Ginger Wine’, marking the brand’s first innovation since its acquisition one year ago. The new sorrel-infused product celebrates an ingredient traditionally and commonly used during Christmas.
Upbeat about this extension of the Stone’s Ginger Wine line, Select Brand’s Corporate Marketing Manager Tania McConnell stated, “Since the acquisition, we have been working on various innovations with the first one to be launched perhaps the most natural one possible, a product with a perfect blend of our world-famous Jamaican ginger and sorrel.”
The company has been mapping the market growth of Stone’s Original Ginger in Jamaica and globally as it seeks to expand its distribution of the popular 200ml size in the UK and US markets. The brand is performing consistently well in the fortified wine category, which McConnell attributes “in part to Jamaica’s high-quality “premium” ginger which stands out in the global market and is used 100 per cent in the production of Stone’s.

Meanwhile, McConnell is confident that Jamaicans will discover a familiarity with the new addition, as its flavour profile closely mirrors the traditional Christmas sorrel drink. However, the latest offering is not limited to the holiday season, but it will be available as a year-round beverage with two ingredients Jamaicans love.
“Simply put, Sorrel has been gaining popularity for use all year round and is being recognised globally for its health benefits. The Stone’s Sorrel Ginger Wine is a brand for people who enjoy the delicious flavour of Sorrel and Ginger and want something a little bit different – add a splash of White Overproof rum and it will bring you straight into Grandma’s kitchen and Christmastime,” the marketing manager added.
The bottling of the new Stone’s Sorrel Ginger Wine began last month with the product set to be available in 750 and 200 ml sizes in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
