The ninth anniversary of Wray and Nephew White Overproof Rum’s Strictly 2K delivered an electrifying night of music, memories, and movement as patrons poured in ready to relive the golden era of early 2000s Top 40 hits, dancehall anthems, and soca favourites.
From the moment doors opened, the atmosphere was charged. Patrons were seen taking photos, raising their hands, and singing along to instantly recognisable crowd chants and throwback lyrics to LMFACO’s Sexy and I Know It, Sisquo’s Thong Song, and Flo-rida and T-Pain’s Low. The energy set the tone for a night dedicated to pure vibes and cultural celebration.
DJ Johnny Kool kept the crowd vibing and dancing with a seamless mix of the post-popular dancehall singles throughout the early 2000s, and Soca selections, while DJ Absolute had Vybz Kartel fans fully engaged, singing word-for-word and moving nonstop throughout his set.

Dancehall hitmaker Charly Black delivered a high-energy performance that had the crowd jumping and fully involved as he ran through his greatest hits, including Party Animal and Whine & Kotch.
In addition to his performance, Charly Black was also honoured for his contribution to dancehall music and his impact on the global stage.
The celebration continued with special honours being presented to key contributors in the industry. Coppershot Sound was recognised for 15 years of contribution to the entertainment industry, while dancer, Mad Michelle, was awarded for her longstanding impact and contribution to dancehall culture over the years, drawing loud cheers from appreciative patrons.

Speaking on the success of the event, Monique Fagan, one of the patrons, shared: “The energy tonight was unmatched. From the moment I walked in, it felt like one big celebration. The music, the performances, and the crowd vibes really reminded me why Strictly 2K is one of my favourite events every year.”
Allistar Mighty also reflected on the milestone: “Nine years in, and the love for Strictly 2K is stronger than ever. This anniversary showed that the early 2000s era still holds a special place in people’s hearts. From the DJs to the live performances and the honours, everything came together perfectly.”
With nonstop dancing, iconic music, and meaningful recognition of dancehall contributors, the ninth anniversary of Wray & Nephew Strictly 2K proved why it remains one of the most anticipated events on Jamaica’s entertainment calendar.
