All systems are ‘go’ for ROK downtown Kingston hotel’s summer 2022 opening, which will breathe new life into the capital city waterfront.
The ROK Hotel Kingston is a 12-storey contemporary hotel, located on Ocean Boulevard in downtown Kingston. It was the former Oceana Hotel, which was originally opened in 1977 but closed in the 1990s.
The hotel, which is now owned by PanJam Investment Limited, was initially set to reopen its doors on May 31, 2022, under the Hilton brand but this has been pushed back to the summer of 2022.
PanJam’s CEO, Joanna Banks, explained that the ROK hotel project is near completion highlighting that the “our (PanJam) next annual general meeting might be hosted at the ROK hotel.”
The 168-room property will be marketed as a Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotel including dining options, residential opportunities, and business meeting spaces.
ROK will also feature an expansive pool deck and fitness centre, as well as lounge area, restaurant, café and bar.
Guests of the hotel will be provided with convenient access to the National Gallery of Jamaica, Port Royal and the Jamaica Conference Centre (JCC).
The property is located in the heart of the Kingston Waterfront, an area that has been in the midst of a dramatic renaissance in recent years.
Jamaica has been looking to reposition Kingston as a tourism destination in recent years, and now the city is building up its hotel stock in recent times.
