Super subs earn victory for Man U at Leeds

Fourth-place Manchester United avoided what would surely have been a shocking second-half collapse in the English Premier League today (February 20) when it defeated Leeds United 4-2 through late goals from substitutes Fred and Anthony Elanga.
United captain Harry Maguire opened the scoring at Elland Road in the 33rd minute through a header from a corner before Bruno Fernandes doubled his lead with his own headed goal just before half-time.
Leeds however struck back just minutes into the second half with a deep cross from Rodrigo that went over United goalkeeper David De Gea and into the far corner.
Leeds, coached by Marcelo Bielsa, tied the game up just 58 seconds later when Daniel James rolled a cross to the back post where Raphinha was on hand to put the ball home.
But with Manchester United reeling at the thought of dropping points at 15th-place Leeds, Fred replaced Paul Pogba and proved to be a difference maker as he linked up with Jadon Sancho before beating goalkeeper Illan Meslier for the go ahead goal.
Teenage striker Elanga sealed the victory when Fernandes set him up to calmly slot home an 88th-minute goal that put the match out of Leeds’ grasp.
