The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is reporting that a suspect, who was under investigation for the murder of District Constable Mark Forsythe, was shot and killed.
While visiting relatives of the deceased district constable, Police Commissioner Antony Anderson said that the suspect, Dwayne Logan, otherwise called Lootie, was killed on Monday (February 20) during a shootout in St Thomas. He added that one firearm was recovered.
Logan was reportedly wanted for multiple murders including that of District Constable Mark Forsythe.
Reports are that on February 13 Forsythe received a call from residents that strange men were seen in a lane off York main road. He went to investigate and was shot and killed.
The commissioner shared that the police are still investigating the matter to find other suspects involved, so that they can be arrested if sufficient evidence is given.

According to Anderson, there is also an increase in officers being injured or fatally wounded during operations. He shared that another policeman was injured in Grands Pen while stopping a motorcyclist and treated for his injuries, but the JCF is taking action to bring criminals to their demise.
“Most of the persons involved are either found afterwards or in some cases the criminals who do these types of things meet their demise. At the same time, I expect that where there is a confrontation…between criminals and police officers that my police officers will win and that those criminals will meet their demise rather than my police officers,” said Anderson.
The commissioner then encouraged police officers to take the appropriate action to protect themselves and members of the public when confronted by criminals.
