Technical issues have forced Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) to place a hold on the processing of same-day driver’s licences.

TAJ is advising the public that it continues to experience issues, occasioned by a recent scheduled maintenance activity that has impacted all Tax Offices, driver’s Licence processing, both new and renewals. All other services, including tax payments and other related motor vehicle transactions, remain available.

Motorists are advised that they must submit a completed driver’s licence application and an uncertified passport-size photograph, along with their payment receipt, whether done in one of the tax offices or online, to facilitate the processing of the Driver’s Licence.

During this time, motorists are permitted to operate a motor vehicle, using the receipt and the expired driver’s licence for up to 60 days.

TAJ will notify customers when their printed Driver’s Licence is ready to be collected. TAJ is assuring the public that a dedicated team is actively working to have the matter resolved and to restore full service in the shortest possible time. Further updates will be provided as soon as the matter is resolved.

“The Central Executive passed on its condolences to families who have lost loved ones and took note of Jamaicans who are still without basic services: electricity, water, internet service, roadways, and proper garbage collections,” Robert Montague, Chairman of the JLP, said.
