Leeds delivered a wild finish at Elland Road, snatching a 3-3 draw from Liverpool after Ao Tanaka struck deep into stoppage time and sent the stadium into chaos.

Liverpool looked to be in full control after a dull first half burst into life. Hugo Ekitike scored twice in quick succession, giving Arne Slot’s side a comfortable lead as they continued their small resurgence following a brutal stretch of nine losses in 12 games. Once again, Slot opted to start without Mohamed Salah, but the team still appeared to be cruising.

Then everything unraveled.

Ibrahima Konaté tripped Wilfried Gnonto in the box, handing Leeds a lifeline. Dominic Calvert-Lewin buried the penalty, and Anton Stach drilled in an equaliser soon after, dragging Daniel Farke’s side level with 15 minutes to go.

Liverpool responded when Dominik Szoboszlai curled home a brilliant finish, seemingly reclaiming all three points. But Leeds refused to fold.

In the 96th minute, Tanaka, who had come off the bench, met a corner at the far post and volleyed it home, capping a comeback and blowing the roof off Elland Road.

The point moves Leeds to 16th, giving them a bit more breathing room as they pull three points clear of West Ham in the drop zone.
