The taxi operator who was seen in a viral video throwing stones at a Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUCT) bus has been charged.

The driver, who has been identified only as ‘Mr Abrahams’ has been charged with malicious destruction of property and dangerous driving.

Head of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch Gary McKenzie said Abrahams was intercepted by the police on Tuesday, October 15 after a planned operation to nab him.

The owner of the motor vehicle Abrahams was driving was also questioned and released.

“The incident revealed that it is absolutely necessary for persons to behave maturely and lawfully regardless of whatever circumstance it is whilst road users are on the roadway,” McKenzie said.

The taxi driver was seen throwing stones at the driver section of the JUTC bus after which he used his vehicle to block the bus.

The incident reportedly occurred along Hope Road in the vicinity of Hope Gardens on Wednesday, October 9.
