Following a comprehensive investigation spanning the St Catherine South and St Andrew Central Police Divisions, detectives have formally charged a taxi operator in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Anisa Dilworth, a University of Technology student, who was reported missing on Wednesday, May 7 and was found dead at a beach in St Catherine on Tuesday, May 17.

The accused is 29-year-old Jamar Grant, otherwise called ‘Balla’, of 9 Miles, Bull Bay, St Andrew and Sligoville district, St Catherine.

Reports are that at about 10:45 am, human skeletal remains were found at a beach in Portmore, St Catherine by a security guard and the police were summoned. The scene was processed, and DNA results later confirmed the remains to be those of Dilworth.

Investigations led to the arrest of Grant, who was interviewed and subsequently charged with murder and kidnapping on Wednesday, June 25.

He is to appear in court on Friday, July 4.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
