With 36 new cases in the last 48 hours, the Turks and Caicos Islands has surpassed the 1,000-mark as the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues.

Two weeks into the new year, the national total in the United Kingdom overseas territory stands at 1,030, as at Thursday (January 14).

Overall, TCI has confirmed 156 new infections since December 30, when the COVID-19 caseload stood at 874. Today, the Ministry of Health is managing 175 active cases.

The UK territory has done well to keep recoveries high and deaths low, with encouraging statistics of 847 and six respectively.
