With almost 20 per cent of the company’s employees registered to run for the cause on Sunday, October 24, Access Financial Services (AFS) had a strong showing for this year’s staging of the ICWI/Jamaica Reach to Recovery Pink Run in Kingston.
In addition, the microloan provider also made a recent donation of $250,000 to the Jamaica Cancer Society to increase its screening capacity.
AFS marketing and communications manager, Nicholas Mundell confirmed that 25 team members represented the company in full support of the 5k run/walk event which raises funds to carry out life-saving breast cancer initiatives.
According to Mundell, “We had staff members coming from several branches, some as far away as St Elizabeth. Pink Run is an event that we have been supporting for a number of years because we believe in the mission of the organizers. Breast cancer is an illness that touches numerous Jamaican families, whether directly or indirectly and we believe it’s our responsibility to do our small part to help survivors who fight so valiantly, and support efforts to increase awareness and screening.”
First staged in October 2000, Pink Run has steadily grown in popularity. AFS team members were among the more than 8500 participants who finished Sunday’s run/walk event, popular for its pink-clad, fun and funky outfits.
