Teen sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, to serve 20 years

Nineteen-year-old Rohan Davis of Cherrington Road, Kingston 2 has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the April 2023 murder of a man in Seaview Gardens, St Andrew.

Davis was sentenced in the Home Circuit Court after earlier pleading guilty to charges of murder and using a firearm to commit a felony.

For the charge of murder, Davis was sentenced to life imprisonment and will be eligible for parole after 20 years. On the gun charge, he was sentenced to 20 years behind bars. The sentences are to run concurrently, meaning that he will serve only 20 years behind bars.

Davis was charged over the killing of Gregory Smith, 26, of Yellow Sea Drive, Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11 on Thursday, April 6, 2023.

Reports from the Hunts Bay Police are that at about 8:25 am, Smith was sitting on the roadway, when he was pounced upon by Davis who shot him. The police were alerted and Smith was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Following an investigation into the matter, Davis was arrested. He was charged on Wednesday, April 13, 2023, after he was interviewed in the presence of his attorney.
