Jannik Sinner, Italy’s star tennis player and four-time Grand Slam champion, won’t be suiting up for the Davis Cup next month as the team chases a third straight title.
The 24-year-old had an incredible 2025, reaching every Grand Slam final and taking home the trophies at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, plus a recent exhibition win in Saudi Arabia.
But with the ATP Tour Finals happening in Turin from November 9-16, Sinner hasn’t confirmed if he’ll be available for the Davis Cup battles in Bologna from November 18-23. Italy’s captain, Filippo Volandri, confirmed Sinner’s absence, leaving the spotlight on rising stars Lorenzo Musetti and Flavio Cobolli, ranked 8th and 22nd in the world, respectively.
The pressure’s now on Musetti and Cobolli to carry the flag without their top-ranked teammate. Meanwhile, Spain will bring their own firepower, led by world number one Carlos Alcaraz.
