Leading international marine fuel supplier, TFG Marine, is setting up operations in Jamaica with plans to start business on June 1, 2025.

TFG Marine will first be starting operations at the Port of Kingston as well as on Jamaica’s north coast in partnership with Scott Petroleum, a trusted local supplier with over two decades of experience and unmatched insight into the Caribbean bunker market.

In executing its local operations, TFG Marine will be sourcing locally Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO), High Sulphur Fuel Oil (HSFO) and Low Sulphur Marine Gas Oil (LSMGO) fuels from Petrojam’s Kingston refinery, which will be supplied via the bunker barge operated by Scott Petroleum.

By combining Scott Petroleum’s local insight with TFG Marine’s global expertise and commitment to innovation, this new venture aims to set a new benchmark for marine fuel supply in the region, delivering reliable, efficient and transparent bunkering services to vessels calling at this key Caribbean port.

TFG associated with Trafigura Beheer B.V.

TFG Marine is a joint venture between a physical commodity trading company, Trafigura Group Pte, which is a Singapore-based multinational commodities company with major regional hubs in Geneva, Houston, Montevideo and Mumbai and ship owning companies, Frontline Ltd and Golden Ocean Group Ltd.

Trafigura Group Pte parent company is the Dutch-based oil-lifting company, Trafigura Beheer B.V., which was embroiled in a questionable $31-million donation by Dutch oil-lifting firm Trafigura Beheer to the People’s National Party (PNP) Government in 2006.

In making the announcement in a social media post, Head of Bunkering at TFG MarineKenneth Dam wrote, “We’re very happy to be setting up in Jamaica. It’s a strategic location with strong demand and teaming up with Scott Petroleum means that we can hit the ground running with an existing, reliable, well-run operation. We’re looking forward to bringing TFG Marine’s global expertise and fuel supply innovation to the Caribbean, and to raising the standard of service for marine fuel customers across the region.”

For his part, Gary Scott, CEO at Scott Petroleum, commented, “We are excited about our partnership with TFG Marine. The new venture will form a strong force to expand the bunker service being offered in Jamaica and will be able to capture other opportunities that exist in the region.

Scott Petroleum was previously working with World Fuel Services on bunker supply in Jamaica, launching a partnership in 2023 to supply VLSFO, 0.1% sulfur MGO and 2% sulfur HSFO produced at the Petrojam refinery in Kingston

Formed in 2020, TFG Marine provides modern, simplified and transparent services that bridge every stage of the bunkering process for its customers, supplying over 10 million metric tonnes of marine fuels per annum in over 30 strategic bunkering hub locations around the world.
