A ‘Christian Brazilian Butt-lift’ (CBBL) is described as a surgical procedure that is done to lift the buttocks and enhance a person’s ‘shape’ in a way that pleases God.

In a ‘traditional’ BBL procedure, fat is injected into the buttocks for fuller derriere. The procedure has a very high mortality rate due to fat embolisms—when fat gets lodged in the bloodstream and causes a potentially fatal obstruction.

The term ‘Christian BBL’ was popularized by American YouTube influencer Sophia Idahosa, who underwent liposuction and fat transfer. She defended her decision against judgment and projecting beliefs.

“I have never presented myself to be [a] holy, perfect example. I’ve always vouched for the girls that love God and are not accepted by others,” she said.

She also acknowledged that she understood the Christian belief that one must not change how God made them, and voiced that she could have lied to the public about it, but chose not to.

In her recent video update, she revealed that she had developed an infection due to the procedure and is currently on bed rest and antibiotics.

“I’m not against plastic surgery whatsoever but let’s be real, God did not tell you to get surgery” One commenter wrote.

Butt…what is the difference?

Based on a loose definition from Idahosa, the Christian BBL, is a type of BBL that is done with “spiritual permission from God”.

Some have started referring to it as a subtle, more modest version of the traditional BBL aesthetic, which is the exaggerated hips and buttocks that seem obviously enhanced.

Medically, there is no difference in procedure in terms of how it is done, cost, recovery time, or the amount of enhancement received.
