Dominican Republic Ambassador Angie Martinez has had a fantastic four-year tenure in Jamaica, and now she is off to become her country’s envoy to South Korea, a considerably bigger assignment and promotion for her efforts here.

Her parties are known to be epic affairs, with dancing into the wee small hours. You can forget the stodgy embassy soirees where guests have to act with decorum with a stiff upper lip.

Angie’s parties bore her personality: vivacious, welcoming and entertaining. We will miss them.

Last Friday night (June 27), the theme was ‘The Great Gatsby’ and Angie’s friends did not disappoint.

The party was straight out of the pages of a F. Scott Fitzgerald novel; all glam and flapper chic.
