The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade is sharing the Final Report of the 10th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference (BJDC).

This report serves as the culmination of months of work and consultation. We extend our most heartfelt gratitude to you whose contributions, engagement and partnership in the staging of the 10th BJDC were instrumental in shaping both the processes, events and the outcomes captured in this document. It not only highlights our shared accomplishments but also points to the opportunities and imperatives that lie ahead.

In particular, your attention is drawn to the Recommendations and Actions section of the report (pages 17 to 31). This section captures the most consequential outcomes of the conference: the moment when participants were able to engage directly with you, our partners, in a way that brought to life a central aim of the National Diaspora Policy—the integration of Diaspora voices into the Government’s development agenda in the context of the Vision 2030 National Development Plan.

These recommendations reflect the outcome of discussions and views of the Diaspora and provide ideas for strengthening our shared efforts towards Jamaica’s development. Your thoughtful consideration towards possible implementation of those which are the most feasible will be vital as we move forward and we hope to receive your feedback on these recommendations in due course.

You would be pleased to know that the Ministry is anticipating the commencement of planning in July 2025 for the staging of the 11th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference (11th BJDC). The Conference, which is scheduled to take place in June 2026, will once again benefit from our collective insight, energy, and support, enabling Jamaica to build on the achievements of the 10th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference.

It is anticipated that the planning process guided by a Preparatory Committee (Prep Comm) and its varying sub-committees with Project Management support will ensure an even more successful 11th BJDC with even greater participation and a wider reach into the Diaspora.
