The Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) recently hosted its highly anticipated e-Campus open house, where Melarka Williams, founder of TheHiveCareers, delivered a fireside chat focused on bridging the gap between Caribbean talent and global opportunities.

Since its inception in 2010, the e-campus initiative has been enthusiastically supported by the JSE, as it aligns perfectly with the market regulator’s core mandate of market education.

JSE business development officer Andre Gooden expressed that, “Through good and bad times, market education has helped participants in the market; us Jamaicans and listed companies, to not just recruit, maintain and educate its various stakeholders, but it has also created seasoned investment professionals who now understand the market.”

He went on to state that “We’ve continued to enter into MOUs with several institutions, which has brought us to the cutting edge of delivery of information, which will help us to grow the capacity of an entire population.”

Speaking to a diverse audience of aspiring professionals, employers, and educators, Melarka Williams emphasised the urgent need for workforce transformation in the region. He introduced TheHiveCareers as a robust, end-to-end career development platform committed to equipping Caribbean talent with the tools, training, and opportunities needed to compete globally.

“The Caribbean is not short on talent; we’re short on access. At TheHiveCareers, we’re building that access,” Williams stated. “We’re creating a clear path from learning to earning to investing, so individuals can not only find work, but build wealth.”

At the heart of Williams’ talk was TheHiveCareers’ and Jamaica Stock Exchange’s flagship initiative: the LEARN, EARN and INVEST campaign, a comprehensive roadmap that enables Caribbean professionals to upskill, generate income, and build long-term financial stability. This campaign reflects a broader mission to transform the way talent is developed, engaged, and deployed across the region, ultimately driving economic growth and career mobility.

Williams also highlighted the full suite of services offered by TheHiveCareers, including a regional job board, freelancing marketplace, career coaching, resume preparation, and skills development roadmaps. With a focus on sustainable careers, the platform also integrates financial literacy and investment guidance to help individuals convert earnings into lasting wealth.

“Financial literacy isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity,” Williams noted. “We’re teaching candidates how to not just make money, but manage and grow it.”
