The police have recaptured a third inmate who escaped from the Black River Police Lock-up in St Elizabeth in June 2023.
He is 32-year-old Kenneth Omari Stewart, a construction worker from Beacon Hill, St Catherine, who is charged with murder. Stewart was among nine escapees.
Official reports indicate he was apprehended yesterday during an intelligence-driven operation in Red Ground, Tryall Heights, St Catherine. He was found in a dwelling with the mother of his child. She is in custody and faces charges for harbouring a fugitive.
Both individuals are in custody at the Spanish Town Police Station.
The police are reminding citizens that harbouring a fugitive is a criminal offence, and individuals who engage in the activity will be charged.
The body of one escapee was found in the hills of St Elizabeth in September. Another escapee, Richard Brown, surrendered in the same month.
