Jamaicans almost universally love Tastee Cheese at home and across the Diaspora—a popular mainstay this time of year—there’s just one inherent flaw…
It is a hassle to open!
Tired of fighting with the tin to get to the savoury goodness of Tastee cheese? Here is a list of the internet’s best ways to get the cheese out of the tin and between the buns this Easter!
Disclaimer: Please be advised that these tips may or may not work, but they may be worth the try.
Roll it!
Rolling the tin of cheese, supposedly, frees the cheese from the tin, that way when you cut it, it should fall right out after a few shakes.
Hot water soak
Soak the tin of cheese in some hot water. The laws of thermodynamics insist that heat causes metals to expand, that way, your cheese can slide right out.
Open both the top and bottom
Now, this method is not foolproof, but it could work if you would have done either of the above methods. the idea is to push the cheese with the palm of your hand from one end to the other.
Cut it!
Cut the cheese in half while it is in the tin, then cut a smaller slice (around 1/16th) in size, at which point you should have an opening to use a fork to pry the cheese out.
Should all else fail, resort to the cheese in a plastic container.
