ATL Automotive is the master dealer for Chinese EV manufacturer BYD in the Caribbean.
Last week, it opened its BYD showroom located inside the AC Hotel in New Kingston – a novel concept in Jamaica.
For the year 2023, BYD (Build Your Dreams) was the world’s top EV manufacturer overtaking Tesla by selling three million units.
BYD has set a sales target of 3.6 million units for 2024, a 20 per cent increase from last year.
In China last year, new energy vehicle registrations reached 8.1 million up 35 per cent year over year. BYD now employs over 700,000 workers, double that of Toyota.
For the first quarter of this year, BYD sold 300,114 EVs. It is expected in the coming years that BYD will become a significant vehicle brand in the Caribbean.
Speaking at the BYD showroom launch, ATL Group executive chairman Adam Stewart said “BYD has an incredible team and we have been working with them. At ATL Automotive, we have 650 people who are fascinated with mobility and we believe we should be able to provide a vehicle solution for every single Jamaican.”

“BYD is an incredible business case study, one you should go home and Google. For two years we have put in the effort to have the privilege of representing BYD here in the Caribbean region. This is a significant investment in the landscape of Jamaica. We will also be launching a BYD showroom in Montego Bay.”
