Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is reminding business persons that consumption taxes for the month of February are due today, March 28.

These include General Consumption (GCT) Special Consumption Tax (SCT), Telephone Call Tax (TCT) and Guest Accommodation Room Tax (GART).

This is in keeping with the requirement for taxpayers to make their monthly consumption tax returns and payments on the last working day of the month, after the end of the taxable period.

As such, consumption taxes that are filed and paid after the last working day of the month will be considered late and the necessary penalties and interest charges will be applied.

Business persons are reminded that they have a suite of online payment options at their fingertips, which includes the TAJ Direct Funds Transfer portal for business-related tax payments.

These are in addition to those available via the TAJ’s website at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm using a credit card or other banking card with credit card features, or using Scotiabank’s electronic funds transfer via TAJ’s website.
