The Trough across Jamaica continues to bring unstable weather conditions across Jamaica and the central Caribbean until Thursday.

This morning, expect scattered showers and thunderstorms across sections of eastern parishes. The atmosphere remains charged, making it imperative to stay weather-aware.

In the afternoon and evening, expect periods of showers and thunderstorms, primarily affecting eastern and central parishes.

Tonight, isolated showers and thunderstorms will still be a concern in some sections of the eastern and central parishes.

Today’s Forecast for Selected Towns and Cities

South Eastern region

Morant Bay, Kingston, and Half-Way Tree will experience intermittent showers and thunderstorms throughout the day.

South Central Region

Portmore, anticipate intermittent showers and thunderstorms.

Spanish Town, May Pen, and Mandeville will see thunderstorms in the afternoon.

South Western Region

Santa Cruz, Black River, and Savanna-la-Mar will experience thunderstorms in the afternoon, while Negril can expect some evening showers.

North Eastern Region

Port Antonio and Port Maria will have intermittent showers and thunderstorms.

North Central Region

Ocho Rios, St. Ann’s Bay, Browns Town, and Falmouth, will also see intermittent showers and thunderstorms.

North Western Region

Montego Bay will experience intermittent showers and thunderstorms.

The workshop, organised by the Ministry’s Work Permit Unit, brought together employers, human resource professionals, administrative officers and authorised agents who are directly involved in the preparation and submission of work permit applications.

Held under the theme “Improving the Work Permit Unit through Strategic Stakeholder Alignment,” the session focused on clarifying legal obligations under the Foreign Nationals and Commonwealth Citizens (Employment) Act (FNCCA), 1964, while addressing common challenges that affect the processing of applications.
