Each year, thousands of people die from heart disease around the world. As a way to fight this, the World Heart Federation created World Heart Day. It’s an event observed annually on September 29 to spread awareness of cardiovascular diseases.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness will be observing World Heart Day with an informative session at the New Kingston Business Centre in New Kingston on Thursday (September 29).

The ministry is encouraging individuals to take part in this year’s World Heart Day celebration by joining the team on site from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Several discussions will take place under the theme, ‘using our hearts for humanity, nature and for us.’

Free health screening will be provided for those in attendance.

World Heart Day is observed and celebrated annually on September 29, with the aim of increasing awareness of cardiovascular diseases and how to control them to negate their global impact.

The international holiday was established by the World Heart Federation in collaboration with the World Health Organization.
