Tottenham Hotspurs beat Wolves 2-0 at White Hart Lane earlier today (May 16) with Harry Kane getting the first goal just before halftime and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg scoring in the second half.

Under interim manager Ryan Mason, the Spurs have adopted a more front-foot approach with attacking football to close out the English Premier League (EPL) season. Today he again employed, Kane, Son, Bale and Alli to bag the win.

Spurs have now won nine points from four games since Mourinho was sacked.

With 59 points they now sit at sixth, ahead of West Ham by goal difference. The aim now is to secure a Europa spot, that will help their financial position and see Tottenham among the best in the EPL. It has been a disappointing season for the North London club, with them conceding 20 points from winning positions. Spurs should have already booked their top 4 spot by now.

Mourinho favoured a more defensive, catch-them-on-the break approach which runs counter to the Spurs way. At the end of the 2020, Tottenham were at the top of the table with talk that the team could win its first EPL title this season. As the year progressed, they have slipped down the table.

Harry Kane now has 22 goals and is a hot favourite to win the Golden boot. Mo Salah also has 22 goals having scored against West Bromwich Albion in the game following Tottenham Vs Wolves. It is likely to be a dog fight to the finish between these two top strikers.

Tottenham take on Aston Villa on Wednesday and Leicester on the last day of the season.
