The Traffic Ticket Web-Lookup Portal, which will allow motorists to pay all outstanding traffic tickets online, is now ready, says Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security Dr Horace Chang.

Motorists with outstanding tickets may access the e-ticketing portal to make payments by visiting  https://trafficticketlookup.gov.jm.

Chang provided details about the portal during an address in the House of Representatives on January 10.

Come February 1, the portal will show just how many demerit points individual drivers have accumulated and if a particular driver’s licence has been suspended.

It will also allow motorists to check the status of their traffic tickets, print their records and use them when attending to their matters in the Courts.

The new digitised system has been designed to support the seamless integration of all the attendant agencies involved in traffic enforcement from the point of being issued by the police through to the court system and will eliminate speculation of corruption.

GENERATE DRIVING REPORTS

Chang is urging motorists to take advantage of the opportunity to pay up all outstanding tickets ahead of the islandwide e-ticketing rollout as well as to retain their receipts after paying at Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) or in the Courts.

Employers are being encouraged to have their drivers generate driving reports from the portal to show they are in good standing.

“It will be an offence to employ or permit a person to drive without the person being the holder of a valid driver’s licence, thus making the employer liable to a fine of $30,000 or 10 days’ imprisonment,” he said.
