Transport Minister Daryl Vaz is expressing outrage at the recent spate of killings of taxi operators across the island.

The most recent incident claimed the life of 47-year-old Alden Watson of Dalling Street, Savanna-la-Mar, who succumbed to injuries he sustained on Monday (August 21).  

“It is high time that we as a people put a stop to the killing of our citizens. Far too long have we stood by and allow this to continue. Taxi operators provide an essential service to our people, and we need to take the necessary steps to protect and secure them,” Minister Vaz stated.  

While condeming the death of  Watson and expressing condolences to the family of the deceased, Minister Vaz assures transport stakeholders that he has received the commitment of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) High Command that the perpetrators of this vicious attack will be quickly brought to justice.

“I have already engaged the Police and received their commitment that they will be persuing all avenues to ensure that the person or persons responsible for this heinous crime will be caught quickly,” Vaz added.
