Following the aftermath of the Astroworld Festival tragedy in Houston, Texas over the weekend, rapper Travis Scott has been slapped with multiple lawsuits, one of which is from the family of a nine-year-old boy who suffered life threatening injuries during the stampede that has already claimed the lives of eigh people.
What started out as a normal and exciting day for father Treston Blount and son Ezra Blount, took an unexpected turn for the worse.
The pair travelled from Dallas to Houston for Scott’s Astroworld concert. The outing, according to the nine-year-old’s grandfather, Bernon, was a chance for father and son to bond and also for Ezra to see his favourite artiste.

Mounted on his dad’s shoulders during the concert, as the crowd surged towards the stage, Treston was smothered by the other attendees, experienced challenges breathing and passed out as a result. Ezra, who was on his father’s shoulders at the time, fell into the sea of people.
After regaining consciousness, instead of seeking medical attention, Treston searched for his son who he later found hospitalised at the Texas Children’s hospital under the name John Doe.
Bernon shared that his grandson, during the commotion, suffered a cardiac arrest. He added that he also sustained injuries to his liver and lungs as well as swelling in his brain.
The family is “devastated because this was supposed to be a father-son outing for them to bond and it has turned into something horrible and tragic,” Brenton shared.
He added: “There needs to be accountability, not just from the artiste or the event planners, but also from the city of Houston.”
Attorneys Ben Crump, Alex Hilliard and Bob Hilliard are representing the family in this case.
In a press release, they announced that the family of the nine-year-old will be pressing charges against the Goosebumps rapper along with Scoremore Management, Live Nation Entertainment and Cactus Jack Records.

The press release also noted that Ezra is currently being hospitalised in a medically induced coma on life support in an attempt to combat his brain, liver, and kidney trauma.
“This young child and his family will face life-altering trauma from this day forward, a reality that nobody expects when they buy concert tickets. Concerts and music festivals such as this are meant to be a safe place for people of all ages to enjoy music in a controlled environment,” Crump stated.

The suit alleges that the defendants neglected to halt Scott’s performance 40 mins after city officials announced that a mass casualty event had occurred. The suit also claims that there was negligence with crowd control, failure to provide proper medical attention, hiring, training, supervision, and retention.
Alex Hillard shared that everyone who had a hand in the festival will be held accountable for the horrific experience.
