Celebrity couples Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, Krystal Tomlinson and Moses ‘Beenie Man’ Davis have all called it quits, less than a month away from the international day of  love, Valentine’s Day.

On the heels of a rocky 2020 it appears that this new year is shaping up to be  a ‘No Love’ 2021.

Though all these couples have suggested that their relationships have come to an amicable end, one can’t help but feel that these splits are just the warm-up to more break-up news.

Most surprising of the splits is that of the iconic duo, reality-TV star Kardashian and rap sensation West. The two, whose unlikely pairing saw them openly dating in April 2012, blossomed into a love story that quickly heated up and bore them their first child, daughter North West, in June 2013. The couple later solidified their relationship by tying the knot in May 2014, before welcoming their second child, son Saint West, in December 2015.

Throughout their relationship, the two have weathered numerous storms, including Kim’s 2016 Paris robbery and Kanye’s 2016 mental break. Through it all, however, the spark between the two never wavered and, in 2019, having celebrated five years of marriage, they renewed their marital commitment to each other.

Almost nine years later, it now appears that their relationship, which took a rocky turn in July of 2020, has now reached a point of no return. Reports are that the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star is now actively moving towards filing for a divorce.

Less than three weeks into the new year, we now hear that  Deep Water co-stars Ben Affleck and Ana De Armas have called it quits and are now free agents.

The couple, who met while filming Deep Water in late 2019, made their coupling Instagram official in April 2020 before making more serious relationship strides with Ben’s introduction of his kids to Ana in May 2020 and then deciding to live together from September 2020.

Unfortunately, however, their star-studded romance has come to a shuddering end within a year, with reports they no longer see eye to eye.

Closer to home, the celebrity-couples bust-up drama continues with Jamaica’s King of the Dancehall Moses ‘Beenie Man’ Davis and his partner of four years  People’s National Party Youth Organisation (PNPYO) President Krystal Tomlinson announcing their parting of the ways on social media.

When the two first announced their unexpected pairing in 2016, their relationship was met first by first surprise and then backlash. Of particular concern to many was the age gap ( Beenie Man is nearing 50 and Krystal is only now entering her 30s). Beenie Man’s eldest daughter, Desha Ravers, is close to Krystal’s age. Then, there is the question of their respective professions – Krystal was a rising political star and motivational speaker; Beenie Man an aging dancehall performer surrounded by younger competitors making a bigger splash on the international scene. They have vastly contrasting lifestyles which is commented upon ad infinitum. Not exactly a match made in heaven.

Despite the negativity they encountered, their love story endured and later bore their daughter Xiah Davis in late 2018. Since announcing their “togetherness” to the public, the pair continually showcased their lives via social media, where Tomlinson was often seen taking on the role of stepmom, dutifully referring to herself as a mother of teenagers and sharing her experience of how she juggles it all.

There is a perverse irony in that the news of their split came via social media. Though neither party has given any specifics behind what led to the split, current social media speculation insinuates that Tomlinson was seeking further commitment from Davis in the form of a marriage proposal.

Celebrity couples tend begin with much fanfare and then end with screaming headlines with everyone professing to love and care about each other and to remain friends with no other person responsible for the breakup… . Then, weeks later, “OK, new boo.”
