Energy company Tropical Battery is planning for a massive expansion in the near future and has purchased Lot 12 Ferry Pen, Kingston 20 for approximately J$950 million to build out its expanded operations.

The lot sits adjacent to its Ferry Pen operations, which is being expanded given the current growth of the business to include subsidiaries like Tropical Mobility, which was created to serve the emerging electric vehicles market in Jamaica by selling electric vehicle batteries and Tropical Finance Limited, which was established to finance the purchase of these renewable energy solutions and electric vehicles for users.

This, is in addition to Tropical Battery’s joint venture Company, ENRVATE, which seeks to be a player in the renewable energy industry and Tropical Energy Limited was formed to provide renewable energy solutions for commercial customers.

This operation sees Tropical Energy designing and implementing renewable energy solutions such as solar panels, wind turbines, etc. for these customers. Plans are in the works to expand the company’s battery recycling programme for degraded electric vehicle and solar batteries.

To complement these Tropical Battery also plans to graduate from the Junior Market to the Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, subject to regulatory approvals.
