Kimona Myrie, operator of TruFun Play, with daughter Truva Boswell in hand, prepares to cut the ribbon for the opening of the facility in St Ann in early January 2026.

As Drax Hall rapidly emerges as the new commercial frontier for the parish of St Ann, the official opening of TruFun Play last week marked another milestone in the area’s growth.

The purpose-built indoor play facility adds to the wave of new businesses redefining the greater Ocho Rios area.

Founded and operated by entrepreneur and mother Kimona Myrie, TruFun Play is designed to provide children with a safe, structured and joyful environment where they can learn, play and grow. The facility caters to children ages one to 14 and can accommodate up to 80 children per hour.

Speaking at the official opening, Myrie described TruFun Play as more than a business venture, calling it the realisation of a vision rooted in purpose, community and a deep love for children.

“I have always believed that children deserve spaces where they can feel safe, encouraged and free to be curious,” Myrie said. “TruFun Play was created not just for my daughter, but for every child whose parents want a safe, structured and joyful environment where their children can simply be kids.”

The concept was inspired by Myrie’s daughter, Truva, and by the limited availability of safe indoor play spaces for young children in St Ann and surrounding areas. Rather than wait for that gap to be filled, Myrie chose to create a solution from within the community.

Originally from Lucea, Hanover, Myrie relocated to St Ann four years ago, where she has since built her home, family and business. She emphasised that TruFun Play is deeply rooted in the community it serves.

“Drax Hall represents a new frontier for St Ann,” she noted. “It is centrally located, strategically positioned between Kingston and Montego Bay, and yet families here have long been underserved when it comes to quality, family-focused recreational spaces.”

TruFun Play features indoor ball pits, slides, obstacle courses, trampolines, supervised play zones, snack services, birthday party hosting, Saturday enrichment classes—including self-defence, karate, art and culture—and after-school care. The facility balances fun with safety and child development.

Myrie has personally invested in the facility, equipment, safety features, staff training and operational requirements, with additional support from close family members, her pastor and a longtime friend who believed in the vision.

“This is not a side project,” she said. “It is a serious, intentional investment in children, families and the future of St Ann.”

As TruFun Play opens its doors, Myrie is inviting parents, partners and the wider community to grow alongside the brand—celebrating milestones, supporting local enterprise and helping to build a space where every child matters.

“When we invest in children, we invest in families,” she said. “And when we invest in families, we invest in the future of our community.
