European travel giant TUI has just announced that it is adding more flights to Jamaica.

TUI plans to expand its presence in Jamaica in the summer of 2023 with increased flights. The plan is to expand to up to eight flights dedicated to stopover arrivals alone next summer.

The European travel giant made the announcement during a meeting last week with officials of the Jamaica Tourist Board.

“Part of Jamaica’s recovery efforts has been to strengthen partnership with our tourism stakeholders like TUI Group and their intention to increase flights signals confidence in the destination.”

Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett

Director of Tourism Donovan White explained that “each flight carries roughly 340 passengers which means about 3,000 passengers weekly, who spend 11 to 12 nights in the destination. This is a very positive step as we work towards full recovery from the fallout of the pandemic”.

For his part, Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett asserted that “part of Jamaica’s recovery efforts has been to strengthen partnership with our tourism stakeholders like TUI Group and their intention to increase flights signals confidence in the destination. This move will undoubtedly augur well for the destination in terms of arrivals and economic activity in terms of jobs and overall earnings”.

At present, TUI is operating 10 flights out of London Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham in the United Kingdom to Jamaica. Those flights support both cruise and land stayover arrivals.
