The St Catherine police have charged two men with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, wounding with intent, unauthorised possession of ammunition and using a firearm to commit a felony following an incident on Taylor Road, Gordon Pen, in the parish on Friday, June 6.
Charged are 22-year-old Mikhi West, otherwise called ‘Asian’ of Onyx Way, Eltham Acres, and 20-year-old Jamari Daley, a vendor of Diamond Avenue, Eitham Park, both in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
The Spanish Town Police reported that at 9:30 pm, 19-year-old student Sandre Walker was sitting at a premise with a group of persons when West and Daley approached them with handguns. West pointed the firearm at a man with whom he had an altercation earlier that day. Daley also pointed his firearm at the man, and a tussle ensued between the man and Daley.
The man was shot in the right thigh, and Walker was shot in his abdomen.
Both accused then fled the scene. The injured men were taken to the hospital, where Walker died while being treated.
The accused men later turned themselves over to the police and were subsequently charged.
