Minister of Education and Youth Fayval Williams has condemned the recent behaviour of students and supporters of the Mona High School, who stormed the Jamaica College (JC) campus on Monday while celebrating their inaugural Manning Cup win.
In a viral video on social media, students and supporters of Mona High School were seen storming the JC campus, blowing vuvuzelas, and hurling expletives at the school’s security guard. Reports are that the incident occurred while the supporters were on a victory march from their school campus to Liguanea.
On their way back, a group reportedly broke away from the main march and stormed the JC campus, disrupting classes. Simulations of gunshots were also heard in the viral video.
In response to the incident, Williams said the students displayed “unacceptable behaviour”.

“Good sportsmanship takes place, not only on the field but also how we interact with our competitors on the roads and in all other arenas,” she said.
The education minister noted that while she understands that passion and emotions will run high as a part of an inter-school competition, the students should always show respect to their competitors.
Mona High School made history on Friday when they secured their first ISSA Manning Cup title after beating Hydel High School 1-0 in the finals of the competition.
JC entered the competition this year as defending champions, having won last year. The school is known for its exceptional football players, having won the title 31 times.
