A widespread blackout experienced by social media users in accessing Meta-owned platforms Instagram and Facebook this morning, March 5, has been resolved.

Andy Stone, spokesperson for Meta in an update on X said: “Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologise for any inconvenience.”

Several thousand social media users were forced to resort to X, after experiencing challenges refreshing feeds on Instagram and logging onto Facebook.
