Spending on private construction was 0.6% higher than the revised October estimate

Construction spending in the United States rose 0.4 per cent in November 2021 to US$1.625 trillion from the revised October estimate of US$1.618 trillion.

The November amount is 9.3 per cent higher than the November 2020 projection of US$1.487 trillion. Construction spending was US$1.463 trillion in the first eleven months of 2021, up 7.9 per cent from US$1.355 trillion in the same period of 2020.

Spending on private construction was US$1.273 trillion, 0.6 per cent higher than the revised October estimate of US$1.265 trillion. In November, the seasonally adjusted annual rate of residential building was US$796.3 billion, up 0.9 per cent from the revised October estimate of US$789.1 billion.

Non-residential construction was US$477.3 billion in November, up 0.1 per cent from the revised October estimate of US$476.6 billion.

Public Construction 

The seasonally adjusted annual rate of public construction spending was US$352.3 billion in November, 0.2 per cent lower than the revised October estimate of US$353.0 billion.

The seasonally adjusted annual rate of educational building was US$82.3 billion, 0.3 per cent higher than the revised October estimate of US$82.1 billion.

Highway construction was at a seasonally adjusted annual pace of $102.2 billion, down 0.8 per cent from the revised October estimate of US$103.0 billion.
