Vice President Harris expressed her continued support for strengthening US partnerships throughout the Caribbean region with both leaders discussing progress made throughout the Biden-Harris Administration.

This includes the four leader-level summits that Harris hosted as well as the launch of the US-Caribbean Partnership to Address the Climate Crisis 2030.

The Vice President welcomed shared progress, including on climate adaptation and resilience, food security, and renewable energy investments. She expressed America’s appreciation for Jamaica’s leadership role in the Caribbean, including its deployment of personnel in support of the Multinational Security Support mission in Haiti.

The conversation was a farewell call ahead of Harris and President Joe Biden exiting the White House to make way for President-elect Donald Trump, who is set to be sworn in on January 20.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Holness said: “We reflected on the strong partnership between Jamaica and the United States and discussed ongoing efforts to strengthen ties in areas like economic growth, security and climate resilience.

“I thanked Vice President Harris for her commitment to the region and wished her continued success. Jamaica remains committed to working closely with the United States to advance shared goals and build a brighter future for our people.”
