The international community continues its generosity towards Jamaica with donations of approximately US$1.86 million and J$635 million to the hurricane recovery cause.

This consolidated amount has been garnered across the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM)-monitored accounts for fundraising.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Commander Alvin Gayle, Director General of the ODPEM, at the Special Press Briefing on Hurricane Melissa inside the Banquet Hall at the Office of the Prime Minister.

The only legitimate government website for Hurricane Melissa relief donations is the Support Jamaica website, https://supportjamaica.gov.jm, which was launched on Tuesday, October 28.

However, on Sunday, November 23, there was an I Love Jamaica Telethon and Virtual Concert for donations.

Other international donors have also made donations and sent aid for persons in need islandwide.
