Team USA’s star studded lineup came up empty when it mattered most, slipping to a 3–2 defeat against Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic final in Miami.

 Despite a late push, the American bats struggled throughout the night, managing just a handful of hits in a performance that never quite found its tempo.  Venezuela made the most of their chances and delivered the final blow in the ninth inning, sealing a historic first title. 

For the United States, it was another painful finish, as key players failed to deliver under pressure and the opportunity to lift the trophy slipped away once again.
