Retired Jamaican track star, Usain Bolt, has moved to trademark his signature ‘To the World’ victory pose, US financial website Bloomberg has reported.
According to reports, Bolt is looking to start a new clothing and accessories brand under the iconic logo.
He wants to protect the logo showcasing his signature victory pose and has already submitted an application for the same. Bloomberg says Bolt filed the application with the US Patent and Trademark Office on August 17.
The filing indicates the fastest man in history will use the distinctive stance to market a range of products including sunglasses, jewellery, bags, and sporting goods, as well as restaurants and sports bars.
‘To the World’
The track legend used to celebrate his wins by leaning back and gesturing toward the sky. His victory pose became popular as he smashed world records, and won several races during his time.
Bolt first did his signature victory pose, during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China, where he set world records in the 100- and 200-metre races.
