The newly elected executives of the University of Technology (UTech) Alumni Association made a strong showing at the commencement ceremony and orientation for new and returning students on August 24.
This event provided an opportunity for the association’s administration to connect with prospective alumni, faculty members, as well as new students and parents. During this period, the association members were highly active in gathering data through a survey exercise in order to ascertain how they can better serve the alumni community and expand their membership database.
In delivering greetings to a jam-packed Alfred Sangster auditorium, president Colin Barnett underscored the importance of engaging key stakeholders in order to garner valuable insights.
Barnett stated, ” Sunday’s commencement service and orientation provided a meaningful opportunity for the Alumni Association to connect with our future alumni, faculty members, and parents in a tangible way.
“As a newly elected executive, it was important for us to be present, visible, and intentional in listening to the voices of our stakeholders. Through our survey exercise and one-on-one interactions, we will ascertain the most pressing needs of our alumni community, which will help to guide our plans moving forward. Also, it was truly inspiring to share in the energy and aspirations of our incoming students, affirming our commitment to walk with them on their journey and beyond.”
Meanwhile, Andrea Carolyn Whyte, newly elected vice president of the UTech Alumni Association, who attended the event, echoed similar sentiments, emphasising the importance of strategic partnerships between the alumni association and its key stakeholders.
“It is my distinct pleasure to serve this administration, and I look forward to collaborating with the executives to strengthen our network by engaging our alumni and other potential stakeholders, both local and overseas. We will also seek to create meaningful project-driven initiatives that can be mutually beneficial.”
