UWI, Mona postpones graduation ceremonies due to Melissa

The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, has postponed all graduation ceremonies scheduled for the upcoming weekend due to the menacing Hurricane Melissa.

In a press release to the media on Monday, October 27, Donovan Stanberry, Campus Registrar, stated, “It has become necessary to postpone our graduation ceremonies” in light of the impending Hurricane Melissa scheduled to hit the island late Monday night into Tuesday morning.”

The graduation ceremonies were scheduled between October 30 and November 1.

“The Campus Administration has begun to explore alternative dates to host the ceremonies and will advise our graduands as soon as the dates have been finalised,” Stanberry stated.

Concomitant with this decision, the Graduation Rehearsal and Cocktail Reception for Graduates scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, will also have to be rescheduled.

The University will also advise of the date that the One-Stop Graduation Centre will be reopened.
