The female vendor, who was recently captured in a viral video carrying out an unhygienic act outside of the Charles Gordon Market in St James, has been charged with breaches under the Public Food Handling Regulations.

The vendor, who remains unidentified, is reportedly facing six charges, which include not having any food handler’s permit, contaminating food items, and contaminating the vehicle used to transport food, among others.

She is set to appear in the St James Parish Court on September 25.

The vendor was caught on camera urinating in a half-cut plastic container in a parked motor vehicle. She then poured the urine into another plastic bottle before placing it under her apron.

The female vendor operated a stall at the market, where she reportedly sold ground provisions.

She has been selling in the market for some 10 years.

The vendor has been barred from conducting business at the location.

Following the incident, the St James Municipal Corporation moved to conduct sensitisation sessions with the vendors on the proper food safety procedures. Sanitation concerns at the facility are also set to be addressed.
