Today, November 14, 2022, the VM Group marks 144 years of serving its members and clients, reflecting on the theme, “Empowering the Transformation of a Nation”.

The journey has not been without challenges having started by the Reverend G.W. Downer, the Rector of the Kingston Parish Church on November 14, 1878. In spite of the challenges, VM Group has remained committed to the intrinsic purpose for which it was formed as a mutual organisation working for the benefit of its members, empowering them to achieve financial well-being.

In keeping with its strategic goal of being a modern mutual, the financial group is aiming to remain relevant and responsive to members’ changing needs.

Courtney Campbell, president and CEO of VM Group.

Courtney Campbell, president and CEO, points to the group’s ongoing evolution of its products, services and access channels as a testament to that commitment of remaining relevant and responsive to members’ changing needs.

He said the management was constantly building out its digital channels to make it more convenient for clients to do business with the group.

Reorganisation in motion

VM is one year into the execution of an exciting brand transformation, one which seeks to further reposition and realign the Group as the pulse of your sustainable financial development story. On August 9, members voted overwhelmingly to approve the reorganisation, which, when completed, will create a new corporate ownership structure to separate the financial and non-financial companies in the Group to ensure compliance, all while preserving member benefits.

Speaking at the the group’s 144th anniversary church service at the Boulevard Baptist Church, Washington Boulevard, St Andrew, the VM Group president and CEO emphasises that the management has been growing the business, while executing the planned reorganisation.

“While this is happening, thanks to our amazing team, we are growing our member base at a pace that is almost twice what we have done over the past three years.”
