Dancehall artist Vybz Kartel’s portrait is being added to the Reggae & Dancehall Wall of Fame on Howard Cooke Boulevard in Montego Bay, the home of Reggae Sumfest.

The portraiture can be seen in the works in numerous videos circulating on the internet.

Fans are elated to see the new King of Dancehall added to the lineup, which includes those before him and his contemporaries.

Other esteemed names in the genres already immortalised on the wall include Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Lee Scratch Perry, Cat Coore, Beenie Man, Yellow Man, and many others.

Though fans are celebrating the addition, expressing that it’s about time Vybz Kartel was recognized, others questioned why Tommy Lee’s portrait, as a Montego Bay native, was not included yet, given his significance to dancehall fans in the area.

In the meantime, fans can catch a glimpse of Kartel’s face as they drive by Catherine Hall, Montego Bay, as they await his highly anticipated ‘Freedom Street’ concert on December 31st.
