Early this morning via social media, Senator Delano announced that he was throwing his hat into the ring to serve as Chairman of the JLP’s North Central St. Andrew constituency and by extenstion, to be the Party’s candidate for the seat in the upcoming General Election.

The following is a transcript of his video statement:

Good morning🙏🏽 yesterday, I formally submitted my application to serve as Chairman of the Jamaica Labour Party’s North Central St. Andrew constituency and by extension, to be our Party’s candidate for the seat in the upcoming General Election. The video voice note details further reasons for moving forward.

This step comes after much reflection, honest dialogue, and, most importantly, with the full support of the Honourable Karl Samuda, whose service and guidance I deeply respect. I also want to acknowledge Mrs. Samuda for her steadfast presence and years of commitment to this constituency. I’m also truly grateful for the full support of both Councillors Lee Clarke and Susan Senior.

As a proud constituent and a past student of Calabar High School, I know the value of community, teamwork, and respect for every individual, values I have carried throughout my over 22 years of service to the Party (started at 18 years old). I did not get here through family connections or privilege, but by consistent hard work, dedication, and always putting people first.

The tremendous support and encouragement I have received from constituents, both here at home and from those overseas, is truly humbling. Your calls, messages, and firm push for clarity and direction have played a big part in this decision. I am stepping forward not out of entitlement or expectation, but out of a genuine desire to contribute, to serve, and to help take North Central St. Andrew to the next level.

Our constituency is filled with hardworking people who deserve leadership that listens, collaborates, and delivers.

I also want to clearly state my absolute respect for our Leader, the Most Honourable Andrew Holness. His vision, leadership and rapid elevation from humble beginnings remain a key guiding light for me, and I am committed to supporting him and the mission of the JLP as we move forward.

This journey is not about seeking a position but about partnership, unity, and delivering meaningful results for the people. I thank you all for your continued belief and encouragement.
