The Colombian army rescued on Tuesday (January 17) a Dominican man who had been lost in the Caribbean Sea for 24 days on a sailboat.

Footage taken by the Army showed the moment a plane spotted a sailboat in the Caribbean waters with the word “help” written on the hull, the Army informed.

The survivor was Elvis Francois, a 47-year-old who was dragged to the sea when he was repairing a sailboat in Sint Maarten (Dutch Saint Martin).

The Dominican said he survived eating a bottle of ketchup, garlic powder and a Maggi seasoner bottle he found on the boat.

Francois underwent a medical check-up and was handed over to the Colombian migration authorities to be brought back to his country of origin.
