Thousands of GenXS revellers filled the streets of New Kingston garbed in one of nine different dragon costumes during this year’s staging of Carnival in Jamaica.

The sun was scorching, the drinks were plentiful, the vibes were high and the music kept on coming.

The costume are Alero, Drakonus, Ferzanda, Magnus, Pyrax, Ragnar, Volcarnis, Wendamyr, and Xengsu.

Speaking with Our Today, first-time reveller Dr Kimone Young said: “It was a great experience! It was my first time! Seeing the different costumes and the women dolled in all their splendour was satisfying to the eyes! The sponsors provided adequate food and drinks! The energy was high and the people added the extra vibe to make my first experience memorable! Hearing Michael Teja was superb! Definitely would do it again! The ability to get massages with muscle rubs during lunchtime was unexpected and I had a great time!!!”

Crossing the stage was a much-loved feature of the event.

Stefanie, a reveller in the Drakonus section, described the moment as excellent and the time of her life.

Jamaican soca DJ King Taj, who played during the crossing the stage event, said: “For me, I really wanted to capture the spirit of Carnival and introduce it through the GenXS way to Jamaica; full of vibes and energy.”
